An amazing country and a photographer’s dream come true.
We landed in Dubrovnik on September 1 after long flights from Perth to Zagreb via Doha, then the short hop south. For three days we explored Dubrovnik and the nearby island of Lokrum before catching a bus to Orebic. From there we day-tripped to the Island of Korcula, then moved on to Hvar the next day (catching the last ferry of the summer with minutes to spare).
From Hvar we sailed on to Split for a one night stay within the old town walls, then drove a hired Renault north to Zadar. We took a long walk to explore the historic old town, spent plenty of time by the pool and made a day-trip to Krka National Park.
After three nights in Zadar we drove inland to a ranch in the small town of Rakovica, near the spectacular Plitvice National Park. We stayed for two nights, then drove north to Zagreb for the last stop of our holiday. We enjoyed a final long walk through the city then dragged our weary legs up the stairs to our apartment.
The next day we left Croatia behind, arriving back in Perth on September 16.
